On Thursday night, Chinese tech firm Xiaomi unveiled its inaugural self-developed new energy vehicle model, the SU7.
The model will hit the market in three versions: SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max, priced between 215,900 yuan (approximately 30,431 U.S. dollars) and 299,900 yuan.
Boasting a minimum range of 700 km, the SU7 and SU7 Max are slated for customer delivery starting late April, while the SU7 Pro is expected to roll out by the end of May.
Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s founder and CEO, highlighted the firm’s technological advancements across key domains including modeling design, battery technology, intelligent driving, and smart cockpits during the launch event.
Xiaomi ventured into the NEV sector in 2021 and established a sprawling factory spanning over 700,000 square meters in Beijing.
According to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, NEV production and sales in China surged in the first two months of this year, reaching 1.25 million units and 1.21 million units, marking year-on-year increases of 28.2 percent and 29.4 percent, respectively.
